  • Opdivo is a cancer medicine that may used for the treatment of many types of cancers like  advanced skin cancer, lung cancer, kidney cancer, classical Hodgkin lymphoma, squamous cell cancer of the head and neck, bladder cancer and liver cancer. It may help T cells discover and attack cancer cells again by blocking cancer’s ability to disguise itself. This allows your T cells to be active and to attack.

How to take this medicine?
  • Opdivo is given as an infusion into a vein by a healthcare provider. The infusion must be given by slow infusion over at least 30 minutes. Your doctor will determine how long to treat you with this medicine.

What are things you need to know before taking this medicine?
  • Do not use Opdivo if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while you are using this medicine and for at least 5 months after your last dose.
  • You should not breast-feed while using this medicine. 
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had lung disease, liver disease, an organ transplant

What are the side effects/adverse reactions of this medicines?
  • Opdivo can cause side effects in many parts of your body. Some side effects may be treated with other medicine and the cancer treatment may paused for a while. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation.
